The project showcases colourful and dynamic set designs inspired by Hong Kong’s cultural landscape, featuring beloved local delicacies such as pineapple buns, dim sum, egg waffles, and classic cold milk tea and coffee.
Set within a playful lift-style environment, the animation brings movement and character to each scene, to reflect the authentic regional flavours. Designed for a naked-eye display format, the piece blends all the elements with lively motion to give travellers a small, joyful taste of Hong Kong’s personality as they pass through.
A director’s cut is a great opportunity for an artist to revisit a project and present it through their own creative lens, whether as a study piece or simply a fresh interpretation.
For this version, we kept the original animation exactly the same, but explored a less commercial feel. We introduced a more minimal colour palette, simplified the lift-room sets, and designed a clean, modern menu graphic. We also added a frame inspired by luggage tags and barcode labels, giving the piece a subtle travel-themed nod while keeping things sleek and understated.
